Artist Statement
Never Odd or Even explores the tension between structural symmetry and natural imperfection. Rooted in the linguistic structure of palindromes—words or phrases that read the same forward and backward—this series of six paintings applies that mirrored logic to the human face, testing the long-held ideal that perfect symmetry equals beauty.

Although each composition pairs an original image with its reversed mirror, they are intentionally distinct. The hand-painted process ensures that no two renderings are identical; each iteration introduces subtle shifts in line, tone, and texture. This act of reinterpretation generates forward momentum and change, ensuring the works ultimately fail as strict palindromes. In embrace of this failure, the series aligns with psychological studies suggesting that true aesthetic appeal lies in slight asymmetry. By allowing structural exactness to give way to human variance, the work invites the viewer to find beauty within imperfection.

Reflecting this structural theme, every title in the series functions as a palindrome—from the collection’s title, Never Odd or Even, to individual works such as Ada (a Hebrew name meaning "adorned").
