Artist Statement
I painted "Shadow Garden" during a heavy chapter, when the world felt pretty dark and quiet. I started taking long walks around my neighborhood just to get out of my head, and I found myself completely captivated by the local gardens—how bright, resilient life kept bursting through the shadows, whether anyone was paying attention or not. This piece is about that contrast. The deep, hard-edged blacks hold space for the tough times, but the sharp pops of chartreuse, warm yellow, and soft pink are a reminder that light always finds a way to cut through. It’s a quiet celebration of finding solace right where you are.
